Power Tech Solution Co., Ltd. (PTS) is a Korean energy technology company that originated as an in-house venture of Korea Midland Power (KOMIPO) and later spun off as an independent corporation. PTS specializes in the development and supply of the Forced Cooling System (FCS) for steam turbines—a solution designed to dramatically reduce turbine cooling time during overhauls and emergency shutdowns, thereby improving power plant availability and operational efficiency. In many thermal power plant's turbine, maintenance is often the critical path of the entire overhaul process, and natural cooling can take 7 to 10 days. PTS's FCS uses heated Instrument or Service Air, passing through a compact SKID unit equipped with air heaters and an automatic control system that adjusts air temperature and flow in real time according to the turbine’s metal temperature. This enables faster and safer cooling while minimizing thermal stress. PTS holds patents for its FCS technology, which was designated an Innovative Product by the Korean government in March 2023. The system has been successfully applied to five major domestic power plants: Shin-Boryeong Units 1 and 2, Boryeong Thermal Units 7 and 8, and Taean Thermal Unit 10. Internationally, PTS has supplied systems to Cirebon 2 Power Plant in Indonesia and GHECO-1 in Thailand, proving its value and competitiveness in global markets. Beyond FCS, PTS also provides power plant spare parts through a robust local supply chain and offers field-tested engineering solutions in collaboration with seasoned power plant experts and the KOMIPO Research Center. The Forced Cooling System (FCS) for Steam Turbines is an advanced solution developed to dramatically reduce turbine cooling time during overhauls or emergency shutdowns. In conventional power plant maintenance, natural cooling of high-temperature turbines can take up to 7–10 days, delaying the entire maintenance schedule and lowering plant availability. The system features a built-in automatic control system that monitors turbine metal temperature in real time and adjusts the air temperature and flow rate accordingly. This automation enhances both operational safety and cooling efficiency, while minimizing the need for manual intervention. Compared to natural cooling, the FCS reduces turbine cooling time by 5 to 6 days, which significantly shortens the critical path of maintenance work, increases plant availability, and improves profitability. The system is scalable and can be customized based on turbine capacity and manufacturer specifications, making it suitable for both thermal and combined-cycle power plants.
